The traditional filing deadline of April 15 falls on a Sunday this year and Monday, April 16, is Emancipation Day, a holiday observed in the District of Columbia (headquarters of the IRS). Therefore, the deadline to file your tax return is extended to midnight on Tuesday, April 17.
